Description

Make a fragrant, golden quince jam with just a few simple ingredients. Perfect for spreading on toast or serving with cheese and crackers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 600g (1.3 pounds) quince
  • 700ml (3 cups) water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, divided
  • 250g (1 1/4 cups) white granulated sugar

For serving:

  • Bread or crackers

Instructions

  • Wash, peel, and core the quince. Cut into small pieces. Place in a large bowl of water with 1 tablespoon lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Drain the quince and add to a large pot. Add sugar, water, and the remaining tablespoon of lemon juice.
  • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 60 minutes until the quince is soft.
  • Mash the quince with a fork or potato masher, leaving some chunks if desired.
  • Pour the jam into sterilized jars and seal tightly.
  • Boil the sealed jars in water for 7 minutes. Let cool completely before storing.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, you can let the jam cook longer for a richer color and caramelized taste.
  • Store sealed jars in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year.
  • Once opened, refrigerate and consume within 2–3 weeks.
  • Great served with cheese, toast, or as a pastry filling.
