Description
Rich and cozy hot chocolate infused with star anise, roasted anise seeds, and fresh orange peel. A fragrant twist on the classic warm drink.

- 100g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate (65% cocoa content), chopped
- 500ml (2 1/2 cups) whole milk
- 5 star anise pods
- 1 teaspoon roasted anise seeds
- Peel of 1 orange
Instructions
- Add milk, star anise pods, roasted anise seeds, and orange peel to a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and let infuse for 10 minutes.
- Strain the milk and discard the spices and orange peel.
- Return the milk to medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add chopped chocolate and whisk until fully melted. Serve hot.
Notes
- For a sweeter version, add 1–2 teaspoons of sugar or honey while melting the chocolate.
- Use fresh orange peel (not pith) to avoid bitterness.
- Can be made with plant-based milk for a dairy-free option.
